Critical Care (ACVECC)
Veterinary emergency and critical care is a veterinary specialty that could save your pets' life. If your pet should become injured, or suddenly develop an acute, life threatening illness he or she will need prompt, emergency intervention. In addition to needing initial emergency treatment, many days may be needed for the disease process to run its course before recovery occurs. During this time, close monitoring and life support measures in the intensive care unit (ICU) may be needed. A vigilant team lead by a veterinarian who is specially trained in emergency and critical care will improve the quality of care your pet receives during this crucial time, resulting in a greater likelihood that he or she will survive.

Internal Medicine (ACVIM)
Internal medicine specialists help your regular veterinarian make challenging diagnoses, and treat patients with serious medical problems such as IMHA, diabetes mellitus, Cushing's disease and Addison's disease. The specialist will review all pertinent medical history, take an extensive interview and examine the patient in detail. They will then make recommendations regarding additional testing, diagnosis and treatment options. If appropriate, they will utilize the availability of advanced technology in medical equipment including ultrasound, endoscopy and laparoscopy to be better able to diagnose and treat your pet.

Surgery (ACVS)
If your pet is referred for surgery at PVSES, not only do we have the advantage of highly trained surgeons striving to provide the best possible surgical procedures, but also the benefit from intensive anesthesia monitoring. At PVSES we take the team approach to surgery providing the optimal conditions and skill set for our patients. This team may include a surgical assistant, a circulating surgical assistant, and an anesthesia nurse in addition to a board certified surgeon. For high-risk anesthesia cases, we may recommend the addition of a critical care specialist to supervise your pet's anesthesia. We are currently performing soft tissue, oncologic, orthopedic and neuro surgeries.

Oncology (ACVIM)
Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. Unfortunately, it is one of the leading causes of death in companion animals. However, huge strides have been achieved in veterinary oncology in the last few years, and we learn more all the time about how to fight this deadly enemy. There is reason now for optimism if your pet is diagnosed with a cancer, where just a few years ago, there may not have been. If treatment is appropriate, chemotherapy, surgery and/or radiotherapy is available for veterinary patients.
If your pet has been diagnosed with cancer, you may choose to work with a specialist trained specifically in this area of veterinary medicine to provide the best possible quality of life for your pet.

Our Cardiologist treats disorders of the heart and blood vessels by combining the most advanced expertise and cutting-edge technology with compassion and exceptional client communication. New diagnostic techniques, drugs and interventions are continually being introduced into veterinary cardiovascular medicine. Our specialist is dedicated to keeping current on the newest methods, advancements and treatments so that we may continue to provide hope as well as support to pet owners.
Our goal is to help companion cats and dogs that have been diagnosed with heart disease live a more normal life. We are committed to customizing an individualized treatment plan that best serves your needs as well as those of your pet. Radiology (ACVR)
Our radiology specialists provide supportive diagnostic services for your doctor. They review radiographs, perform ultrasound (sonogram) examinations of the abdomen, thorax and chest, providing your doctor with the benefit of their expertise and vast experience. Your doctor can then make more fully informed diagnoses so that he or she will know how to proceed with the most appropriate course of therapy. The radiologists also work closely with your doctor to perform minimally invasive aspirates and biopsies.

Dermatology
A boarded veterinary Dermatologist has expertise and specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of animals with benign and malignant disorders of the skin, mouth, hair ears and nails. A veterinary dermatologist also has had significant training and is experienced in the treatment of allergic disorders.
Their extensive training and experience make dermatologists extremely qualified in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious and non-infectious skin diseases, parasitic skin diseases, autoimmune diseases, allergy and allergy-induced skin diseases, recognition of the skin manifestations of systemic disease (including internal malignancy), cancer of the skin, cysts and other tumors of the skin and chronic infections and inflammatory conditions of the ears.
Veterinary dermatologists perform many specialized diagnostic procedures including microscopic examination of skin biopsy specimens, cytological smears, allergy tests, potassium hydroxide preparations, fungal cultures and other microbiologic examination of skin scrapings and secretions.
